We Review – Christmas Perfection – 2018

This film welcomes you in with images of Christmas and some gentle music. As Darcey is creating an illustration for the perfect Christmas card, Tom comes to check on her progress, the classic love interest.

Next, we are walked into a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Where, true to form, Darcey is trying to make everything perfect, add in a few nudges of her parents, things don’t actually go to plan. Luckily, her best friend Brendan is on hand to help her with her tradition of getting Christmas ready at midnight!

All Darcey thinks she wants is to have a perfect Christmas, one where nothing goes wrong. But does the madness of Christmas, the unpredictability, not add to the fun of it all?

As with a lot of Christmas films, the basic plot line is glaringly obvious. However, it doesn’t stop us from enjoying the Irish based setting, the magic of Christmas and a few home truths on what the cost of perfection actually means! As the film jumps to Christmas day you miss a few of those run up to Christmas traditions. Although, Darcey does know how to set up a good Christmas village!

Will Darcey ever achieve her perfect Christmas? Does she know what true perfection really means?

If you are looking for true Christmas indulgence, the visual feast of lights and colours, warming you to your core and getting you into the spirit, this film might leave you feeling a little cold.
