Festive and delicious holiday meals may be created with a variety of food and drink pairings, including traditional Christmas supper. In addition to the traditional Thanksgiving turkey, there are a variety of other foods you may prepare for your family and friends this holiday season, some of which may be completely new to them. Some of these foods and beverages will be included in this post so that you have lots of options to choose from this holiday season!
Roasted chicken is one the closest substitutes for turkey, if there are only a small amount of people round yout table this Christmas, chicken can be a great choice. Chicken takes on flavour and just like turkey tastes amazing with pigs and blankets and gravy.
If you really want to impress your guests try adding a variety of spices inside the bird’s cavity before roasting it can enhance the flavour and make it a more festive centrepiece for your holiday table.
If you don’t fancy turkey this year, pork may be perfect replacement. When it comes to pork, stuffing is a fantastic side dish and apple sauce is a must. Pork is a very versatile meat and can take on most flavours it is paried with, however, sage, rosemary, and thyme are our favourite choices.
Beef is a popular dinner over the holidays, and there are a variety of delicious recipes to choose from to suit your taste. You could choose from somthing a little more indulgent such as steak, paired with a creamy sauce and all the veg trimmings. Other beef options are a beef wellinton, tradtional joint of roast beef, slow cooked brisket or a wintery beeft stew topped with horseradish dumplings.
When it comes to vegetarian choices, you really can’t go wrong. If you are not feeling traditional you don’t have to stick to a predetermined menu when it comes to food. For those who like Indian cuisine, a spicy chickpea dish is an excellent choice. It’s simple to prepare, and you may make it as spicy as you want. However, if you would prefer to stick to something a little more coventioanl, veggie Christmas dinner foods might include a vegetarian wellington, brie and cranberry tart, nut roast or a mushroom and cheese quiche.
